Nated and Artisanal programmes that lead to a trade or National Certificate Vocational (NCV)

Occupationally-directed/registered with SETA

Academic 
academic qualifications such as certificates, Higher Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees
  • Occupationally Based Programme designed to improve learner's understanding and competence in a particular focus area/skill set.
  • Set of individual unit standards, grouped together to form a short, credit bearing course - must be registered on the NQF framework and conducted by an Accredited Training Provider
  • Vendor Specific Programmes are short, industry specific courses based on global standards with international exams.

Internships
  • 12 Month work experience programme aimed at unemployed, university/college graduates - those with tertiary qualifications but who lack 'real world' workplace experience

  • Employer determines content/specializations of Internships and programmes may vary greatly  
  • Specific outcomes not as defined or regulated as in the case of Learnerships
